Hello everyone!
My name is Linh. L-I-N-H. I am 12 years old. I’m from Nha Trang city, Vietnam. I am Vietnamese. I am a seven-grade pupil of Mai Xuan Thuong Secondary school. I learn a lot of subjects at school such as Math, English, Music, Art, … but I like Math best. As you know, I am very busy studying at school. I don’t have free time. But when I have free time, I usually play badminton with my mom. I often play it twice a week. And I like watching TV and reading books after school. I don’t like going out. And my family has four people: My father, my mother, my little sister and me. My father is 40 years old, he works for Hyundai Vinashin company. My mother is 36 years old, she is a teacher of Do Re Mi Kindergarten. My little sister’s 2 years old, she is a pupil and studies at Do Re Mi Kindergarten. And I love my family so much. 1. So, what are Starters, Movers và Flyers certificates?
These are 03 English certificates belonging to YLE ones system (Young Learners English Test) held and granted by English Testing Service of Cambrige University to 7 – 12 year old pupils which are allowed in 160 countries and are valid forever and are divided into 03 levels:
     ==> Starters: For 7 – year old pupils with 100 English learning hours.
     ==> Movers: For 7 – 11 year old pupils with 175 English learning hours.
     ==> Flyers: For 9 – 12 year old pupils with 250 English learning hours.

 

2. Why do children need Starters – Movers – Flyers certificates?
Because these are certificates that Primary Education Department and Ministry of Education and Training use to standardize primary pupils’ English knowledge according to Cheme 1400 of Ministry of Education and Training mentioned in the Documentary, No 6003/BGDĐT- GDTH on  21/9/2010.
Moreover, these certificates prove the pupils’ English fluency and they can learn in international environments.

3. Test procedure, structure and format:
     - Listening: Starters: 20 minutes; Movers: 25 minutes; Flyers: 25 minutes.
     - Reading & Writing: Starters: 20 minutes; Movers: 30 minutes; Flyers: 40 minutes.
     - Speaking: Starters: 4 minutes; Movers: 6 minutes; Flyers: 8 minutes.

All pupils get certificates. The result is presented by the shields printed in the certificates. Each skill has a maximum of 05 shields. Therefore, any pupil get the absolute grades he or she has 15 shields. There are no regulations for passing or failing but medium grades which is considered “reach” must be over 10 shields and each skill must not under 02 shields.

 

And the program for learning and drilling them at BIET Language Center is as follows:
  •  Starters: 7 – year old pupils with 100 English learning hours (about 03 courses).
  •  Movers: 7 – 11 year old pupils (grade 3 & 4) with 175 English learning hours. (about 06 courses).
  •  Flyers: 9 – 12 year old pupils (grade 5) with 250 English learning hours. (about 08 courses).
